Sunset at Lake Pilchicocha
Amazon Basin, Ecuador.
Lake Pilchicocha is a blackwater lake, in the Province of Sucumbíos of Ecuador. It is located in the eastern Ecuadorian Amazon Basin, about 2.1 Miles from the Napo River. The marine population consists mainly of Scavenger-Piranhas, caiman and otters. The staff at Sacha Lodge told us that it was perfectly safe to take a swim in the Lake. But my swim was relatively short as I kept having memories of movies from my childhood that included man-eating pirahhas.
