Amazon Basin, Ecuador
The squirrel monkey lives in the rainforests of Central and South America in the canopy layer. They are small monkeys that live in trees and have a prehensile tail that they use for balancing as they move about in the canopy. Squirrel monkeys live in large social groups and communicated with noisy calls.
During our stay at Sacha Lodge, each afternoon we were treated to a show as these monkeys played in the trees along the boardwalks of the lodge.
